I-94 and Main Avenue Bridge Opens to Two-way Traffic Until Monday July 16
June 29, 2018
Next phase of work begins after the Red River Valley Fair to support increased traffic in the area
Starting today, Friday, June 29, until Monday, July 16, contractors for the Main Avenue business loop project will open the bridge to two-way traffic in West Fargo.
With phase one complete on the rehabilitation bridge project, the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) Fargo District will suspend project work ahead of the Red River Valley Fair to accommodate increased traffic. Congestion is still anticipated through the area during peak times. Traffic control devices will remain onsite so stay alert as you travel across the bridge.
On the Monday following the week-long events, crews will begin on the final phase of the bridge repairs. Project work will continue into September.
The bridge carries West Fargo Main Avenue traffic over I-94 toward the eastbound onramp loop and also exiting eastbound I-94 traffic over I-94 towards West Fargo Main Avenue.
When construction activity begins eastbound and westbound I-94 traffic is maintained for travel through the interchange. To complete the necessary bridge repairs, a detour route will be in place for westbound Main Ave traffic wishing to go eastbound on I-94.
During phase two construction:
- Bridge is limited to one-lane traffic with the bridge remaining open for eastbound I-94 traffic exiting on Main Avenue
- Bridge is closed for West Fargo Main Avenue traffic wishing to use the eastbound I-94 onramp loop
- Main Avenue to eastbound I-94 traffic will instead be detoured to travel west on I-94 to Exit 342 (Raymond Interchange) and return east on I-94. The length of this detour is about 2.5 miles.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down, allow extra distance between their vehicles and the vehicle in front of them while traveling and obey posted signs.
