Driver’s License office in Fargo temporarily moved to new location
December 12, 2019
Beginning Monday, December 16, Fargo driver’s license services will be moved to a temporary location at Village West Mall at 4101 13th Ave. S in Fargo while a renovation project takes place at the permanent driver’s license office on 38th Street S. The temporary move will allow for less disruptions in service for customers in Fargo.
Driver’s license services at the temporary Village West Mall location include all driver’s license renewals, REAL IDs and Class D road tests. Office hours will remain the same, 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. The temporary locations are expected to remain in place for approximately one year while renovation is completed at the permanent location. The move is part of a newly launched action plan, Drive ND, to improve customer service at many driver’s license offices across the state.
While walk-in customers are always welcome, appointments can be made to allow for faster service, greatly reducing wait times for customers. Appointment scheduling can be made on the NDDOT website at dot.nd.gov. When making your appointments for Fargo, please take note of the office location so you can ensure you go to the correct address for your scheduled appointment.
The Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) DRIVER test along with motorcycle DRIVER test will remain at the permanent location at 503 38th Street S. while construction is taking place. All WRITTEN testing along with the hazardous material knowledge testing will continue to be conducted at the NDDOT’s temporary testing site at the North Dakota State College of Science Building (NDSCS) Fargo location at 1305 19th Ave. N., Room 127, which was moved there in August.
The NDDOT would like to remind motorists there are many driver’s license items that can be done online, and your license will be mailed to you so you don’t need to visit the office.
Things you can do online to save time:
- Renew a standard vehicle or motorcycle driver’s license online, if over 21 and under the age of 65 and you don’t want a REAL ID.
- Change your address.
- Replace a lost, stolen or damaged ND license.
- Replace a vertical driver’s license after you are 21 to a horizontal driver’s license.
- Schedule an appointment to get a REAL ID. Online renewal is not applicable when obtaining a REAL ID.
- Schedule a driving test.
- Schedule an appointment to renew a ND license, permit, or ID card.
