Today South Side Access to Main Avenue Changes in West Fargo
August 17, 2016
8th Street SW intersection reopens to traffic this afternoon
This afternoon, Wednesday August 17, road construction crews have reopened the 8th Street SW intersection for direct access to Main Avenue traffic in West Fargo.
The change will allow for south side concrete paving work to continue on the east end of the work zone and crews will then temporarily close 6th Street SW and Main Ave. intersection to traffic.
Area businesses and visitors can use the temporary concrete driveway to the west of the 6th St. SW and Main Ave. intersection to access the gravel frontage road. Non-truck traffic will still be able to use 2nd Avenue W as another access route to 6th St. SW.
For the next couple of weeks, the south side intersection access from Main Ave. is:
– OPEN – 11th Street SW, 8th St. SW and Morrison Street
– TEMPORARILY CLOSED – 6th St. SW and Francis Street
Traffic is now being carried completely on the north side of Main Ave. from 12th Street W to Sheyenne Street. Drivers are head-to-head, one lane in each direction, on the newly reconstructed north side roadway and all north side Main Ave. intersections are open for use.
Once concrete gutter and curb work has been completed on the south side, the next traffic control change will happen in the work zone. Crews will shift one lane of eastbound traffic to the newly reconstructed south side roadway. One lane of traffic will remain in each direction on its designated side of Main Ave. to allow work in the new median area to begin.
The last public information meeting will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at West Fargo Public Works building for this project.
Remember flaggers may be present directing truck traffic throughout different areas of the work zone. NDDOT asks drivers to slow down and keep their attention on the road.
