Traffic Shift on I-29 Tri-Level Bridge Deck
September 8, 2020
Beginning tomorrow, September 9, at 6 a.m., the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) contractors will begin the next phase of project work for the I-29 tri-level bridge. Crews will shift the single lane closure into the left lane and begin operations. Motorist will then be carried in the right lane.
To allow crews enough room to safely complete operations, the single lane closure will be in place running the bridge’s entire length throughout the duration of work. Motorists can expect the following traffic impacts on the I-29 tri-level bridge:
- CLOSED: Single left lane closure
- OPEN: Single right lane will remain open to traffic
- Speeds are reduced to 40 mph where traffic control is present
Motorists will stay in this traffic pattern for approximately two weeks. Construction activities will include spall repairs, crack sealing, pavement grinding and expansion joint modifications. Project work is being done to correct the ride and profile at the bridge ends and minor structural repairs. The entire project is slated to be complete by mid-October.
The NDDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones stating, “road closed.”
