West Fargo Main Avenue South Side Intersection Access Changes Tomorrow
June 22, 2016
Tomorrow, June 22, crews will be swapping temporary intersection closures on the south side of Main Avenue in West Fargo.
Starting at noon, contractors will be closing the 8th Street SW and Main Ave. intersection to continue roadway removals on the south side of the old roadway. The intersection will be graded and re-open to traffic next week. When this work begins at the 8th St. intersection, crews will be opening up a gravel driveway at 9th Street SW and Main Ave. for business access along this stretch.
For the next week, the south side intersection access from Main Ave. will be as followed:
– OPEN – 11th Street SW and 6th Street SW
– TEMPORARILY CLOSED – 8th St. SW
Currently the north side intersection access from Main Ave. is:
– OPEN – 9th Street NW/CR 19
o This is a light vehicle and heavy-load traffic route.
o County Road 10 W to the Raymond interchange on Interstate 94 is also a heavy-load truck traffic route.
– TEMPORARILY CLOSED – 6th Street NW
Motorists are encouraged to use the open intersections and side streets to access the businesses and residential neighborhoods through the work zone.
Traffic is head-to-head, one lane in each direction on the newly reconstructed roadway on the north side of Main Ave. from west of Drain 21 to just before 6th St. NW intersection where traffic crosses to south side of Main Ave. at the Speedway. Motorists continue on the south side of Main Ave. through the three-way stop intersection at Sheyenne Street.
During the week of June 27, the transition near Speedway will be eliminated and traffic will run completely on the north side through the work zone. Crews are currently finishing pouring concrete sidewalks, installing street lights and various other project needs to prepare for traffic being completely carried on the north side. The 6th St. NW and Main Ave. intersection will re-open to drivers with this traffic shift.
NDDOT asks drivers to slow down and pay attention while driving through this short yet dynamic work zone. Speeds are posted at 25 mph.
